27-D1 Mission to Mexico Report - October 11, 2009
Following are Mission activities since the February 28, 2009 report:
1. On April 27th the district purchased a 66 passenger 1995 Ford school bus from the Mt Horeb school district for $1871.20.
2. The annual meeting of the Wisconsin Lions Mission to Mexico was held in Deforest on August 9th hosted by Lion Erling and Ann Isely. The key items discussed were:
A. Annual assessment to districts was set at $400.00, up from $250.00 in previous years.
B. Wisconsin Lions Mission to Mexico is now a tax exempt 501-c3 organization.
C. Upcoming missions are:
1. October 23-26 to Victoria led by PDG Bob Showers.
2. January 24-30, 2010 to Papantla headed by Lion Gary Donaldson.
3. February 4-7, 2010 to Rio Bravo or Reynosa led by PDG Bill Taubman.
4. February 2010 to Altamira headed by PDG Bob Showers. The exact date is yet to be determined.
D. A training session will be held on January 9th, 2010 at the Lions camp in Rosholt.
3. The bus is loaded and will leave for McAllen, TX on October 16th. The cargo consists of: 114 school desks and chairs from the Madison school district, 27 cases of incontinence pads, 30 boxes of clothing and medical supplies for a nursing home near Rio Bravo and 20 boxes of school supplies and personal toiletry items for an orphanage in Reynosa.
The next report to the district will be after these four missions are completed.
